A week + Crumble, Ringo & Tahoe in Nîmes (France)
I have been invited again by Valérie and Paul to keep Ringo and Crumble, their boxer & rabbit, with my own dog, Tahoe. The 2 mutts had spent a few days together in the past and seemed delighted to meet again : on my arrival, Tahoe ran immediately to the terrace, went directly to the tennis balls box and threw one to his old friend. They played immediately until they were exhausted.
Crumble is always kept in another part or the house, far away from the other pets. This rabbit has a lot of space : she lives in two rooms, being allowed to run in a dressing, a corridor and a study.
With some grids in order to spare the electrical wires she enjoys to chew... When it's warm she is kept free outside, in a small fenced garden.
8 years old, Crumble is not afraid by human beings, she is used to be taken in Valérie's arms and cuddled.. But you need to pay attention to her teeth when you give her a treat or some fresh hay.
As soon as you open the door, she comes to you, waiting for a gift, but when you cuddle her, she quickly jumps out of your arms or your knees. You need to avoid her teeth...
What she prefers is to lay in the sun behind the window, or rest on her tiny armchair.
We faced a very bad weather one day : this spring was cloudy, the temperature rather cold for march. During heavy rains, the 2 dogs refused energticallly to go out.
As Ringo dislikes
to be damp, it was better for him not to feel cold : he faces thyroidian issues and needs, from now on medication.
Playing was not allowed of course inside the house ! I refused to throw them the balls they brought to me, afraid some vase, pot of flowers or nice
sculpture would be broken... Better safe than sorry !
Invited to keep calm, they slept by my lap on the sofa when I was reading.
Unable to stay still for very long, they played together sometimes rather briskly...But they never fought or bited each other in a naughty way. They just behaved like very active young males.
Tahoe and
Ringo could share the same cushion, drink in the same bowl (but not eat !) ; they never felt jealous if I cuddled only one. Very nice chaps indeed ! My husband, who spent only the week end with us agreed with me.
