Fall in Melrose

11 days with a cute puppy in New England

Pepper
, a long haired Jack  terrier, is a very friendly puppy : she gives you instantly her balls and toys, is easygoing and happy all day long. She does not bark when you leave her alone for a few hours, goes to her crate when it's time to sleep without protesting.

Pepper makes some fooleries like all dogs of her age, biting her leash for example or her harness buckles, but is so cute you always  forgive her. Everybody in the neighbourhood says hello to that puppy ! Even big dogs ! For sure, she is  a very social one.

Anne, her owner invited us the day before she left to CalIfornia, so we had time for a long handover. We went together to her favorites places : Pepper enjoys daily  walks to the Reservoir near by, where she can walk unleashed, runs after sticks and swims in the pond. Fascinated by the ducks ahead and delighted to meet other canine friends who like water too.

As Anne had let us her Audi we could visit Massachusetts and drive along the coast.

We took every day Pepper with us, she was very calm in the car but as we noticed she understood how to open the windows of the back seats, we blocked them, afraid she would jump and fall on the street !

She  slept deeply when we visited an exhibition on Edward Hopper's early works in Cape Ann.

She came with us to Gloucester and Rockport, to Barnstable and Chatham on Cape cod, enjoying to run on the beach.

We  visited all together  the lovely village of Marblehead. we could take her with us on terraces, but she was not allowed inside restaurants.

We noticed it was better to avoid swimming in the Atlantic : big pannels in Barnstable warned tourists big white sharks were sometimes  hunting around !!

It was too chilly anyway for us but we saw a young courageous couple entering the water in Marblehead, but not staying for long. They were almost naked when the painter we saw on the shore prefered  to wear warmer clothes...

As we're fond of architecture, we went with Pepper  around the M.I.T to see Bill Gates'foundation built by Frank Gehry.

She became quite tired to walk under the rain and was happy to go back home : the best place obviously for her to rest was lying on  me !
