A week in Whiltshire

A week with a senior cat near Hungerford

Muffy, 13 years old , is a very "vocal" princess  : when she wants to go out, to come back soon afterwards -even if she has a cat flap with a chip- she meows rather loudly to let you know she's waiting for the door to be opened ! She really screams sometimes as if she was cross with somebody !

As she must take 1 or 2 tablets per day, we followed her masters' strict routine : we fed her by hand when it was time to give her medication wrapped inside tasty  slices of turkey or chicken. Around shrimps the pill was more easily swallowed.  Otherwise Muffy turned her head and ignored us!

With Vincent and I, Muffy was pretty shy, she kept distances, never came to the guest room in the evening, she much prefered to remain on Nick and Bev's bed instead, where she was used to sleep.

But after a few days when we were going to the garden she dared to follow us. She even stayed close when we sat on the bank to watch wild animals.

As Bev and Nick' house faces the river Kennet, several ducks nest nearby. Nick feeds them everyday and ducks are aware they can find grain. A lonely swan showed up sometimes too, swimming on the other side but never came too close. Afraid by the ducks, the cat or us  ?

Muffy stayed often on a cushion near the sofa while we read. She did not purr much but loved to be groomed.

She accepted only after a few days after our arrival to be taken in our arms. We had to proove her she could trust us.
