Xmas in Cataluña
!
12 days with 1 young dog & 2 mature cats in Northern Spain
Their " parents", Carrie & Tom, "invited us for dinner and offered us a generous tasty Xmas gift.
Reggie, a 3 years old dog, was very cute. Although he had his own cushion, he obviously prefered human company, jumped on the pale blue sofa when we were reading or on our beds when we went to sleep.
He always behaved gently, never barked, stayed very calm in restaurants (begged sometimes a little, putting his paw on my knee but never insisted long), he was really nice.
As we had been warned Reggie disliked to be left alone more than 3 hours, we took him everywhere with us when we wanted to discover a little more the Cataluña region.
He kept silent in the boot of our car, stayed very quiet when we visited Begur and Sa Tuna on the Costa Brava or Vic with him.
Everyday we made long walks with him, in the hills near the house, or on
the beach downtown. We could let him free, he was very good on the
recall.
Reggie enjoyed to meet other dogs. Tiny or huge, of all sorts of breeds. He was curious, liked to say hello, even to fake pets like the one we met once in Sitges !

Maggie, a 8 years old fluffy female, was a greedy cat one, always meowing for food. She "spoke" a lot to us.
The first two evenings, she prefered to sleep on the terrace but afterwards came inside near us and the dog. The 2 animals got along very well. shared couches. Cuddled each other.
Wally, the 9 years old ginger cat, was more shy and much more independent ! She vanished first for 2 days which made me anxious !

Wally only showed up once or twice per day behind the kitchen bars, asking us to open the window and let her in. She then quickly went away through her cat flap, Even if she seemed less frightened at the end of our stay, she remained distant. Maggie & Wally had really different characters !
To give us the opportunity to visit Barcelona without Reggie, Carrie was kind eough to
call the local Dog day care who came to pick him up in the morning.
Reggie was obviously delighted to spend a few hours with his canine friends in a camp.
Unfortunately this kind of helpful service does not exist in our area in Provence...
